Abbeyfield understands that the decision to give up
ones own home is one of the most difficult that anyone has to make, but we hope that
residents will be helped to come to terms with it by the welcoming atmosphere within
Holloway House in Quorn.
Naturally we accept that it will not be quite the same as living in ones own home. Living
in harmony with other people, most of whom are likely to be strangers at first, is not
always easy and calls for give and take by everyone. But we do recognise and respect every
resident's right to be an individual. We believe that Holloway House should offer people
companionship in warm and friendly surroundings, with opportunities to maintain existing,
and develop new, interests and community links.
As the House Manager, assistants and other house staff play a central role in promoting
this ethos, we endeavour to appoint people who are committed to it.
Abbeyfield UK is legally responsible for Holloway House and sets and monitors its
strategic, health and safety, care, financial, staff, and management policies. A local
service manager appointed by Abbeyfield UK manages the house in conjunction with the House
Manager and Administrator, with advice and help from local volunteers, and a House
Committee made up of volunteers and members of staff. The residents are consulted on all
issues affecting them.
