Instructions are included here to help you change your email ID so that when you send a message, it appears to come from your village address rather than your default address. Doing this really makes the system work at its best - your default address effectively becomes transparent and recipients are not aware of whether you're on Freeserve, Tesco, BTClick or whatever. All they see is the village address.

Note that not all ISPs allow you to change your outgoing mail ID. We are aware that AOL does prohibit it, and also Compuserve may do so as well. Please inform us if you know differently or if you know of others who apply restrictions.

Follow the instructions below as appropriate to your email software. If you use email software not listed below and know how to change your email ID, please send us a description - we'll add it to the list below.

  Eudora by Qualcomm

Open Eudora and select the Tools, Options pull-down menu

In the Category section, Select Getting Started

The Real Name field can be left as it is.
Change the Return Address field to your new village email address.

Send yourself two test messages - one to your new village email address, one to your default email address. You should receive both of them. If you've correctly followed the procedure above, they will both appear to come from your village address.

Alternative Eudora instructions available with screen shots.

Microsoft Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook

Open your Outlook software and select the Tools, Accounts pull-down menu.

On the Internet Accounts form, select the Mail tab.

Click on the Account line that you use for your mail (if you use more than one account, you will have to repeat the next steps for each).

Select the Properties button and on the Properties form, select the General tab.

The Name field can be left as it is.
Change the E-Mail Address field to your new village email address.
