Welcome to Quorn Open Gardens 2003
Open Gardens in Quorn
has enjoyed a reputation over the years for choosing a fine weekend.
2003 was no exception - but the weather was not just 'fine',
it was sweltering! Nevertheless, many hundreds of brave souls trudged
the
streets
of the village in the boiling sun in search of new ideas, curious plants,
and eventually, and more desperately, a seat and a cup of tea!
Whether
they had a love of gardens and horticulture, or were simply out for a
pleasant afternoon stroll with friends and relatives, visitors' most
frequent comments were how pleasant and friendly this event is in Quorn's
social calendar and how much effort goes into getting the gardens into
shape.
Proceeds from the sale of passports will again this year go into the
Village
Greening Fund, administered by the Parish Council. New planters and flower
beds in the village financed from this fund carry labels acknowledging
the
contribution from Open Gardens.
