The New Quorndon Shakespeare Company
'All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players ... '
- Can you act?
- Can you juggle, walk on stilts, or play a musical instrument?
- Can you sew a fine seam, paint a convincing stained glass window, make a crown fit for a king?
- Do you fancy being a Weapons Supervisor, a Wardrobe Mistress, or a member of the Front of House staff?
- Have you got what it takes to risk the ridicule of your friends, pull on the tights and boots, and practise your swash and buckle?
If so, we would like to hear from you.
In January 2001 a group of people with a love of Shakespeare and an interest in performing his plays (and other classic works) met for the first time in Quorn, and The New Shakespeare Company was formed.

Members felt that, despite there being many excellent amateur groups in the area, there was little opportunity for local people to become directly involved in large scale performances of Shakespeare's plays. With Stratford so close, the opportunity for seeing the very best productions is of course available to most of us. However, the cost can be prohibitive. We hope that having at least one large scale production a year in Quorn will be of interest to many, particularly students who study the texts but may never have seen or been involved in a staged version.
The New Shakespeare Company has 'vaulting ambitions' of its own, and future plans might include an outdoor production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' as well as workshops, readings and tours of other venues. Our first major production is 'Romeo and Juliet'.

We are looking for people who are keen to join a very lively, social and unstuffy amateur group dedicated to producing exciting theatre.
Please call S.Scott on 01509 567176 for more information.
