Following on from last year's success with the skateboarding ramp
and youth shelter for older children, the Parish Council decided to
refurbish the play equipment for the younger ones. The old wooden
equipment was showing signs of wear and tear and so councillors and
parents got their heads together to design a completely new area.
The final design brief was put out to tender and although not the
cheapest, Wicksteed Leisure came up with a scheme which most closely
met our requirements. The original price was £22,200 but a last
minute grant from the County Council has enabled us to fence in the
multiplay unit, bring the new total to £27,239.00.
Grants were:
Parish Council £10,000
WREN £8,000
SHIRE £4,636
David Wilson Homes £5,000 (section 106 planning agreement)
Astra Zeneca £985
LaFarge £1,360
Quorn Country Hotel £100
The total funding is £30,081. The remaining money
will be spent on seating, litter bins and general maintenance and
tidying of the park.
The Parish Council is extremely grateful to the funding bodies and
the parents who worked with us in creating this project.
