Muggins Enterprises is Quorn's newest business. Started in November,
the business aims to promote hand-made bespoke pottery made at Muggins
Pottery in Cotes.
Muggins Pottery has been established for over 30 years. They make
pottery with faces on - cats, dogs, mice, mugs, goblets, boxes, teapots,
bowls, tableware - the whole range.
The
pottery is not mass-produced - every item and every face
that has ever been made at Muggins is hand-made and unique.
Facial expressions cover the whole spectrum - from downright grumpy
to deliriously
happy; from melancholic to chirpy - Muggins makes
them all.
The
Quorn arm of the operation will market their products on the web, selling
directly to end-consumers in the
UK, mainland Europe, Canada and the
USA. Their website will allow people to buy on-line from any of these
countries and display prices in Sterling, USA dollars and Euros - an
essential tool in the modern on-line world.
The longer term aim is to promote Muggins special edition pottery,
such as fantastic dragons and one-off pieces. Japan is a big potential
market for this high quality unique pottery.
In a world of mass-production and uniformity, Muggins still flourishes.
Opening up their products to the Internet exposes an entire new market
to the madness of Muggins.
