With European elections imminent, many villagers were angered by
recent flyposting by one of the political parties.
Posters had been
pinned around the village in very prominent positions. Using adhesives,
many had been stuck on bus shelters, service
boxes and the Parish
Council noticeboard in Station Road. For the latter, the posters
had been glued to the outer cover, obscuring other posters within
the board. Efforts to peel them off resulted in an even worse eyesore.
Complaints were registered with the UKIP on Saturday 15th and Monday
17th May. A promise was received that they would be removed immediately,
following the actions of one of their "over-enthusiastic volunteers".
Given the amount of adhesive used throughout the village, should their
new motto be "Sticking up for Britain"?
