The Parish Council believes that most residents have a view about the environment of this village that we live in. You might have concerns over litter or have ideas over particular areas which would benefit from tidying up or ‘greening’. You might be able to offer your help, advice or expertise on traffic, footpath or play equipment issues.
The Council’s Environment Committee has recently subdivided into three groups all of which are seeking villagers to join them:
The Village Greening Subcommittee
This group will look at areas which would benefit from planters or planting and general horticultural improvements. It will take responsibility for the maintenance of The Banks, The War Memorial Garden (under the guidance of Jane Hollingworth), The Stafford Orchard park and the many other pockets of open space in and around the village. It takes control of the budget gifted by Open Gardens.
Chairman is Councillor Mrs Jo Backus. Tel: 01509 412864
The Traffic, Highways and Village Cleanliness Subcommittee
Have you recently felt concerned at the traffic problems the village faces? Do you walk the footpaths and feel that some improvements are necessary?
Do you worry about the litter on our streets?
Chairman is Councillor Terry Stirling. Tel: 01509 414287
Major Projects/Public Space development Subcommittee
The Council is about to embark on The Banks phase 2 (subject to tender) and has several other exciting projects in the pipeline. This subcommittee will deal with feasibility through to general management of schemes approved by the council. It will also seek to develop the village’s open spaces (excluding Cave’s field) and look for improvement projects.
Chairman is Councillor Ivan Bexon. Tel: 01509 413673
If you feel interested in any (or all!) of these groups and could spare a couple of hours approximately every six weeks, you would be warmly welcomed. Please contact the individual Chairman for further details.
