Quorn Village will run its annual Open Gardens event again this
year, following the same highly successful formula as in previous
years.
The event which attracts hundreds of people into the village
will take place on July 30th and 31st over two afternoons - Saturday
and
Sunday, between 2.00pm and 6.00pm. Choosing the date is always a
balance between having gardens full of colour and having good weather.
Over
20 village gardens will be open to the public, either on both days
or for one or the other. Some garden owners will be selling
plants, and providing refreshments and cakes for the garden-weary
traveller.
There will also be a Plant Sale on both days in the Memorial
Garden in the centre of the village. This will also act as the central
focal
point for the event where visitors will be able to get information
and buy passports, giving access to all gardens open on the weekend.
Passports can also be purchased in advance from shops in the centre
of the village, or can be posted out to those interested.
All money
from this annual village event currently gets channelled back into
the village in the form of planters, landscaping and plants.
The
event does need helpers and people who might consider opening their
gardens. Everyone who has done this in the past has thoroughly
enjoyed the experience. The organisers also need donations of plants
for the plant sale, and volunteers on both days to support the sale.
