Quorn Open Gardens 2005 - Great Success
August 2005
Judging by the number
of visitors for the two-day Quorn Open Gardens event held on July 30th/31st,
the
event
was
a
great
success.
The weather, so often the deciding factor in these events, proved ideal. When
the sun shone, people made the best of it.
Some garden
openers sold
plants and also refreshments for the weary traveller.
The plant sale in the Memorial Garden proved extremely popular. Also
the Wartime in Quorn VE / VJ Day Exhibition in the Village
Hall was a big crowd puller.
Over £3000 was raised from the event
from the sale of passports, plants and refreshments, along with door
takings at the VE / VJ Day Exhibition. This money will be used to
fund planting schemes and village greening projects over the next
twelve months.
The organisers pass on their sincere thanks to the many
villagers who contributed to the event - shopkeepers who sold passports,
those who opened their garden, donated
plants, sold refreshments, or donated photographs - all help was
greatly appreciated.
Some
photos
of the event are available. These could take some time to download,
