The School Travel Plan Working Group are in regular contact with County Hall about the pedestrian lights at Farley Way.
There have been a few delays, the sort that seem almost inevitable with any civil engineering project. The latest news is that initial investigation trenches have already been completed to confirm the position of various services. A gang will move in during week commencing the 12th December to do preparatory ducting work. Serious work on the crossing will start week commencing 9th January. Please be patient and possibly allow a little more time for your journey! It is a large project and will not be completed until the third or fourth week in February.
The Farley Way pedestrian lights represent a huge success for the St Barts School Travel Plan. They were one of our major objectives and the School Travel Plan carries such weight, that we were told that it was the major factor in securing the scheme’s final acceptance in the County’s programme of works. As a result children will be much safer on their journeys to and from school. The lights will also enable even more people to walk or cycle. We’ve proved we CAN make a difference - now let’s build on this brilliant success. Please continue to support the School Travel Plan, keep encouraging your children to walk or cycle to school – keep safe – keep healthy!
Thank you again to all those people who supported the campaign and wrote to the various bodies concerned.
