PARISH CLERK/RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER
Starting Salary : £24,708 pa (review due 1/4/07)
Quorn Parish Council is seeking to recruit a new Parish Clerk/RFO to commence employment in April 2007, prior to the retirement of the present post holder.
Quorn Parish Council is a friendly forward-thinking Council which manages a range of services, promotes village improvements and represents the community’s views.
The Clerk/RFO is responsible for the day to day management of the Parish Council's services and facilities, and is head of the paid staff. The post holder is also required to work in partnership with other statutory bodies and the general public to ensure the Parish Council is delivering excellence
Previous local government experience is essential and a knowledge of local government accounting highly desirable. The post holder will require a high level of competence in Word, Excel and MS Outlook (or equivalent). You will either hold, or be willing to obtain, the Certificate in Local Council Administration.
Use of a car and a full driving licence is desirable. A casual user mileage allowance is payable. Use of a home computer is desirable and financial assistance towards this may be available.
Hours will normally be 37 per week. There will be some evening and weekend work with time off during the week to compensate.
The council has an office in the centre of Quorn which will form the main place of work, but some home working is possible.
There will be a handover period with the present clerk of approximately six months. During this time the post hours are intended to be 30 per week, but could be negotiable.
