The inaugural meeting of the Quorn Village Design Statement took place on Thursday, January 12th in the Council Chamber at the Village Hall.
Present were Cllrs Ivan Bexon, Joan Bloodworth, Phil Child, John Hutchinson and Terry Stirling; Parish Clerk Kathryn Paterson; Community Development Officer of The Rural Community Council Hazel Fish; Rob Brown, Rick Hoyland, Geoffrey Locke, Keith McEwan, Chris McEwan, Julia Martin, Sue Newcombe, Kevan Porter, Ian Rushin, Renia Rushin and Liz Shrives. An apology was received from Tony Weller who had been delayed abroad.
Officers appointed were:
Chairman - Terry Stirling
Vice-Chairman - Rick Hoyland
Secretary - Rob Brown
Media and Public Relations - Julia Martin
The next meeting has been scheduled for Thursday February 9th and it is stressed that it is not too late to join the team as the major item at this meeting will be to formulate working groups to cover the component sections of the VDS. These are:
1) The village context
2) The character of the landscape setting
3) Settlement pattern character
4) Buildings and spaces in the village
5) Highways and traffic.
Publicity and up to date information will be found on the village notice board, the weekly Quorn notes in the Echo and on the village website.
