How much is that doggy in the window? February 2007
Quorn's new contemporary craft gallery fg2 opened its doors on the snowy evening of Thursday 8th February with a launch party with invited guests from the local community who enjoyed champagne and handcrafted chocolates. Also at the launch were local artists Duncan Thurlby from Loughborough whose sculptural metal dog takes pride of place in the window, Whitwich based artist Darren Dearden who paints contemporary canvases and Judi Kettle a jewellery designer from Rothley.
Local makers' works are displayed alongside work sourced from throughout the British Isles with fg2 promising to showcase the very best in British Designer Craftsmanship through renowned makers such as Blandine Anderson (ceramics), Andrew Geoghegan (diamond jewellery) and Lara Aldridge (glass) with up and coming talent such as Russell Wilson (ceramics) and Nina Parker (jewellery). On show will be an ever-changing display of ceramics, glass, art, sculpture, textiles and jewellery.
The new gallery fg2 is owned by Rachael Chambers Leicestershire's Rural Business Woman of the Year and owner of the multi award winning Ferrers Gallery at Staunton Harold. Fg2 will be managed by Alison Green who was worked with Rachael at Ferrers Gallery for a number of years.
The launch was a great success, the local community see the addition of fg2 as a asset to compliment the other unique shops and restaurants in the area and we look forward to being part of Quorn's vibrancy. Our first day opening only confirmed this with customers enjoying browsing through the gallery and wishing the business every success.
Fg2 will be open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5.15pm. Telephone (01509) 415537.
