Old School Buildings on School Lane
sold for development? January 2007
If Leicestershire County Council is allowed to have its way, the Old School site will be disposed of. It is probable that the buildings will be demolished to make way for . . . a housing development.
Quorn Parish Council entered into a dialogue with the County Council with the idea of securing the existing buildings for community use. The only option the Parish Council was offered was to purchase the buildings for £300,000. We know the buildings require refurbishment which is likely to cost more than the purchase price. The Parish Council was given until 31 March, this year!
Clearly, Quorn Parish Council could not afford those sort of sums in this short time frame. Quorn Parish Council believes Leicestershire County Council is attempting to dispose of the school contrary to its own policies, government guidelines, and the rule of law.
