Early in 2006 Quorn Parish Council decided to submit a bid to the National Lottery’s Parks for People initiative for money to refurbish Stafford Orchard Park. A plan was produced and views were sought. 98% liked the plan submitted to the Lottery in March 2007.
The Heritage Lottery Fund gave the plan a Stage One pass in September 2007. This means that £650,000 of lottery money is now earmarked for the project provided that acceptable and detailed plans are produced for the park by September this year. The Lottery also awarded an interim grant of £32,000 to do the development work.
