Become part of your Parish Council!
November 2006
Do you want to make a difference? Next May there will be an election for all eleven Parish Council seats and it’s people just like you who are needed - people who want to make a difference and influence what goes on in their village. Please think about becoming a Parish Councillor - Yes, you need to have some time to devote to it - just like if you belong to a school PTA, or your kids are in the scouts or guides, or you belong to a club or night school - but the main thing is to have enthusiasm and to be a ‘doer’ and not just a talker!
The Parish Council needs people to represent all walks of life. For instance, at present there is only one Councillor with a school age child (and he is in his last year at Rawlins) and no Councillors from the Farley Way area. Help your Parish Council to represent all sections of the community. Let’s broaden the picture. You have to be over 21, but I don’t think Quorn has ever had a Parish Councillor in their twenties - who will be the first?
Think about it - give it a try and join our friendly team - it’s a real buzz to look at something in your own village and know - ‘that only happened because I made it’. The elections will be on 3rd May 2007. Nomination papers will be available from electoral.services@charnwood.gov.uk or the Parish Clerk (contact details are here), and need to be submitted before 4th April 2007.
