Tim was born in Loughborough, both of this parents were singers of church
music. His father was one of six brothers in the Loughborough All Saints
Parish Church choir. His mother was the daughter of a family of butchers
in Market Place, Mountsorrel, which is where he grew up.
Tim attended primary and secondary school in Mountsorrel, then transferred
to Loughborough College School and obtained the London School Certificate.
He left school at the age of sixteen and joined the family retail business
in Loughborough where he has worked all his life, except for two years
National Service in the army, mainly in Germany. He retains an interest
in the German language and likes to visit on holiday and converse (although
the Germans seem very eager to practice their English nowadays!)
He married his wife, Pat in 1960 and moved to Quorn. They have three
daughters, two sons, four granddaughters and three grandsons.
Tim stood for the Parish Council because of his concerns over creeping
industrialisation, and the need to keep the green wedges between towns
and villages. He also felt, and still feels the need to improve local
facilities wherever possible.
He is a trustee of Quorn Conservative Club and a committee member of
Quorn Townlands Charity.
