Music at St. Bartholomew's
At Saint Bartholomews Church, we believe music
to be more than just an integral part of the worship. The music at any service helps to
define its dynamic and can either engage the mind and soul of a worshipper or completely
turn them off. Music, therefore, is inextricably linked to the life of the church.
Most of all, our music endeavours to be enjoyable and uplifting. Having fun making music
is one of our primary aims.
We are fortunate to have a wide range of musical resources to call upon. In addition to
the Organ and the Church Choir there are a number of instrumentalists of differing ages and experience who contribute to the
music either individually or as a group. We are keen to encourage young people to become
involved with music in any capacity they may have, be it chorally or as instrumentalists,
and believe that involvement in Church music will give young musicians confidence and
encouragement.
However, music to us is more than just Sunday by Sunday Services. We have special music
for Church Festivals and Holy Days (Christmas, Easter etc.) but also endeavour to put on
the occasional special event that is advertised in the village.
The Church takes its role in the wider community seriously and to that end we aim to put
on a variety of concerts in the church that appeal to the wider community. Examples of
concerts have been Christmas music with the Leicestershire Chorale and
Autumn Leaves where the Rawlins Steel Band RawSteel peformed.
We are always looking for feedback from the village. If you would like to make any
constructive observations or wish to become involved in any area of the Churchs
musical life, please contact the Director of
Music.
