Sunday Schools
All Stars
All Stars is for 3-7 year olds who want to have fun
and learn about God and His love. They meet on Sundays at 10.30 a.m. upstairs in the
church extension. Its a rather special room with a stained glass window on one side
and a new rose window on the other side.
All Stars activities include listening to and acting out Bible stories, singing, praying, crafts and games. Making things to take home is especially popular!
On some Sunday mornings the children join the adult congregation, for a short time at the end of the morning service, in order to share their activities or to go for a blessing at the communion rail. On the third Sunday of the month, All Stars are usually in the church for the whole service, often participating by singing, reciting or making things. In the photo you can see some of the All Stars with a few of the older Crossbearers displaying a dove which they had made during a service on the theme of peace. The feathers were made from outlines of the congregations hands which had been cut from paper and glued in position. This reminded us that everyone has a part to play in making peace.
Children join All Stars when they are ready, which may be by their third birthday or perhaps when they are nearer 4 years old. Though normally meeting every week, some breaks are taken during the school holidays.

Crossbearers
Who are we?
The answer is really very straightforward. We are a group of young people, from eight
years upwards, who meet on Sunday mornings in the Church Rooms at 10.30 a.m. for an hour.
What do we do?
This is a bit more difficult to answer because it includes such a wide variety of
things. Mostly we aim to have a very pleasant time together so
..we talk, listen to
each other, play games, make things, eat and drink.
What is our room like?
Well, its recently had a face lift so is brighter and better than it was. It has
been decorated, had a new carpet fitted, received some snazzy floor cushions and new
cupboards. We plan to buy a couple more floor cushions, put up notice boards on the walls,
and generally put our stamp on the place.
Who are the leaders?
There are two - Joy Chapman and Mary Arthur who enjoy being with the children on
Sundays, and also helping them to become involved in other Church activities. We try to
help with any special events that are taking place, for example we made a
scarecrow for the Church Fete and people had to guess its birthday to win a prize. We also
sometimes attend musical events which might be of interest. Generally speaking, we like to
make our presence felt and for people to know we are around. So we are a lively element of
Quorn United Church.
Who would we like to join us?
The answer is simple; anyone. If you would like to come along for a taster
so you can see us for yourselves, then please do. If you are a young person, looking for a
friendly group to join, then why not give us a try? No qualifications or experience are
needed, and there is no fee!
