Auditions for A Christmas Carol

Quorn Village Hall - 7.30pm

The NQSC is auditioning for performers for a new musical adaptation of Dicken's timeless classic, A Christmas Carol.

Performances will take place at Quorn Village Hall on 2nd to 5th December 2026 and rehearsals will be mainly on Thursday evenings. If you would like to take part then we would love to see you at one of the two audition dates.

We are a friendly company and our productions are always great fun, so come along or contact us for more information.

Great Central Railway - 11.00am

Thursday is a diesel running day with only the Loughborough bar open from 3.00pm. Friday onwards all three bars are open 11.00am to 11.00pm. Live music at Quorn and Rothley. Free entry to the bars just require to purchase a ticket for train travel along the line.

National Emergency Briefing (Film)

Quorn Village Hall - 6.30pm
Cost: Free

This is a 45-minute film revealing key points on the climate crisis made by the UK's top climate and nature scientists. It's free, no reservations are necessary and all are welcome. It will be followed by a short discussion.

The film was shown in Loughborough in May, but this will be the first public screening in any of the surrounding villages.

Quorn Local History Group - Crime and Punishment - John Adsley

A Just Measure of Pain - John will look at the changing definitions of criminality over the last 1000 years, the changing attitudes to punishment and measures to tackle crime in Britain. He will focus upon some celebrated cases including a notorious organised criminal gang in the Middle Ages, the hanging of an Earl and the greatest number hanged in one day, - all in Leicestershire. He will also focus upon several one-time residents of Quorn who were sentenced to death across three centuries and their stories.

Quorn Local History Group - Lady Jane Grey - Sally Henshaw

Quorn Church Rooms - 7.00pm, doors open 6.30pm

Lady Jane Grey is shown in the Paul Delaroche painting as a saint and martyr, but there is more to her story than this Victorian depiction suggests. Jane, from Bradgate in Leicestershire, known as the 'Nine Days Queen' was executed in 1554. Did her royal blood and ambitious relatives make her death inevitable, or could it have been different?
